Stone Foundation Repair

This topic is available here on The Repair-Place forum
I have an older home--about 100 years old--that has a stone foundation. Former tenant had some work done on the foundation in certain areas but still have some little water leaks there. I had someone check foundation to see what I could do to fix foundation. I was told to get some hydraulic cement to put on walls to stop water leak. He also told me that the foundation needed to be sealed to keep in heat because I could loose heat because of it not being sealed. He never told me how this could be done because he was in a hurry to leave!! I called to get an estimate to see about spraying insulation on the walls and was told it would cost quite some money. What is a something that I could do myself to seal my foundation walls?
